Studio CAKE POS terminal on a dark field, breakfast menu grid on the CAKE-bezelled screen.
CAKE POS family: terminal with the item grid, customer display with a check total, and handheld order ticket.

AI-generated KDS service simulation — built with a controlled, consistent world model across characters, props, devices, locations, and product UI.

CAKE consumer landing design mock: Find the best food around you, with address search and food photography along the bottom. Design mock provided for this study, not live restaurant photography.

Principal Design EngineerProduct Systems
CAKE has teams building POS, mobile POS, kitchen displays, kiosks, online ordering, admin panels, and onboarding. My work was to help those teams design and ship as one product system.
The challenge
The friction lived between teams: interface decisions diverged, Figma drifted from production, and handoffs slowed work across connected restaurant surfaces.
What I changed
First I brought shared Figma and React primitives into the repo, made working software part of design review, and paired with design, engineering, PM, QA, and executive partners to spread the practice. As that model took hold, agentic workflows became part of how teams built—not a separate AI initiative.
The impact
  • 70% faster handoff: Moving Restaurant Admin toward shadcn brought design and implementation closer together.
  • 42% faster onboarding: Reworking the path across Shop, Salesforce, and GIACT reduced average onboarding age.
  • 89% improvement in lost-sales rate: The same onboarding work recovered opportunities that had been falling out of the process.
  • Kitchen Display System 2.0 shipped across stacks: The product team carried the work from React to Kotlin in the repo, without returning to a separate design handoff.
